Pregnancy Doesn’t Have to Be Scary

A Guardian Angel is here to help.

A lot of things in life happen unexpectedly. We can allow those unexpected things to ruin our days/weeks/lives, or we can adjust to the changes and turn something unplanned for or unwanted into a positive experience. That includes unplanned or unwanted pregnancies.

Your pregnancy may not be what you expected, but you have the power to make it into something positive and uplifting for you and your baby. When you choose to place your baby for adoption, you can also help lift parents looking to adopt. Your choices affect a lot of people, and you can use your influence to do a lot of good.

Dealing with Fears

Every courageous choice comes with opposition. Much opposition to an unplanned pregnancy comes in the form of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of providing for yourself and a baby, fear of not being able to afford medical care, fear of not getting support from those you love most, and fear of the pregnancy or delivery itself are all common fears birth mothers face. A Guardian Angel is here to help you through all of your fears so you can make the best choice for you and your baby (and have the tools you need to face your fears with courage and strength)!

Facing your fears can be hard, and we completely understand that. Many of us here at A Guardian Angel have gone through some really scary things when it comes to adoption. But, we can all promise you this: It will be ok. And we don’t just say that. We help make it okay for you because we all need support sometimes.

You may be feeling none, some, or all of these things. Wherever you’re at in this process, please know that we’re here for you. There’s a lot going on in your life, and we want to make sure you have the resources you need to make it through this challenging time in life. And hopefully, we can make it a little less difficult for you. You will always have A Guardian Angel by your side.

Common Fears

I’m afraid I won’t be able to provide for the baby.

It can be hard asking yourself how you can provide for a baby. Depending on your situation, your answer may be, “I don’t think I can.” Maybe you’re in the middle of school. Maybe you only have a part-time job and don’t have the financial resources to provide for two. Maybe you don’t have time to raise a baby. Whatever it is, if you feel you can’t provide for a baby, don’t forget about adoption! Adoption allows you to provide your baby with a family and all the things they need.

Although you may not be ready at this time to raise a child, there are many parents who are. Your choice to place your child for adoption is just the kind of miracle that these hopeful adoptive parents are wishing for. Providing for your baby may mean making an adoption plan, which is a positive way to deal with an unexpected situation.

I’m scared I won’t be able to pay for medical expenses.

We get it—considering carrying the baby to full term means considering doctors and hospital stays. Affording those things can be intimidating, especially when they’re unplanned for. That’s why we offer birth mothers free medical coverage. Your doctors, hospital stays, and medical needs related to your pregnancy are covered when you choose to place your child for adoption.

You have a lot to consider now that you have to think about this baby, and we want to help you make the best choices and worry less. So we are happy to take care of your pregnancy-related medical expenses so you can focus on taking care of yourself and your growing baby.

I’m afraid of doing this alone — I don’t have a lot of support at home.

The news of an unexpected pregnancy affects different people in different ways. Although you as a birth mother may feel the desire to give your baby a chance for a better life through adoption, family members, friends, and even the birth father may feel differently. There are times when birth mothers are faced with criticism, mean comments, and negative peer pressure from the people around them. Perhaps you’ve already felt some of this negativity and maybe have felt alone. Let us assure you: You are not alone in your desire to give your baby a better life through adoption. You have A Guardian Angel.

We love our birth mothers. We honor you. That’s why we’re serving you. We know the adoption process so you don’t have to worry. We are with you every step of the way, even when it seems others have abandoned you. Do not give up on what you feel is right for you and your baby. We’re fighting for you. We stand with you.

What if pregnancy and delivery scare me?

Going through a lot of unexpected changes can be a little scary. And that’s ok. We also know that knowledge is power. When facing a lot of unknowns, it’s important to get as much information as possible. That can help you prepare for what’s coming up.

We happily provide you with as much information as you may need. We have experts in the adoption process and many others who have gone through pregnancies themselves who can help you through this time of changes. Although there are a few things that can be scary, we want you to know that you don’t have to face them alone. You’ll always have access to A Guardian Angel and the resources we provide. Counseling, information, and a personal coordinator are all resources we offer among many others. If you’ve made the choice to place your baby for adoption, take courage. You are doing a good thing. And you don’t have to be afraid because we’ll always be here to help.
