Adoption Story: Meet Creeney

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”- the Serenity prayer that Creeny said in her mind every day.

Seven years ago, Creeny had an unplanned pregnancy. She was devastated and embarrassed of her situation. If there was one thing she knew, it was that she was not in a position to be a parent. Before she could get to the abortion clinic she was sentenced to some time in jail, the time she spent in jail was crucial to how her story unfolded. As she struggled with the life changing decision of what to do next, her heart led her to adoption. Creeney thanks the Lord for her time spent in jail, because it changed everything.

When Creeny found out she was having a girl, her prayer to God asking for calmness, peace, strength and courage rang through her mind once again, and there was no doubt in her mind that she wanted to name her Serenity. Through her adoption process, she chose an adoptive family. As she got to know the family, they discussed the hardships of adoption, and how important it is to keep a positive state of mind and not feel troubled by this lifes ups and downs. For this reason, they were also inspired to name the baby Serenity Joy! This gave Creeny the confirmation and comfort that she was making the right decision with choosing adoption, and that this was exactly where she was meant to be.

Creeney’s adoption was successful because she leaned into her struggles with the goal to obtain serenity in her life. Although her adoption story was not an easy path, she feels it was the right decision for her, and was given many miracles and signs of it.

We, at A Guardian Angel Adoptions have been honored to experience many miracles on a daily basis. We have, countless times seen birth mothers and adoptive families choose the same name for their baby. Each miracle hold something special with every situation as the stories behind each of course come about in a glorious, and miraculous way.

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.
