Adoption Story: Meet Birth Momma K
K was a 25-year-old single mom struggling with two little children when she became pregnant again. As she weighed her options, she knew she wouldn’t be able to give this child the life they deserved. She decided to contact A Guardian Angel Adoptions for some information.
After much thought, K decided this was the right decision for her. She didn’t know it, but at the time the S family was an active adoptive family with the agency who had been patiently waiting and praying for a baby for two years.
A Guardian Angel Adoptions provides multiple family’s profiles for birth moms to choose from who are ready and prepared to be parents. When K received a set of profiles to look through and choose an adoptive family, she fell in love with the S family. She was so relieved and excited to feel that comfort of choosing a loving family and having confidence in them. She let the caseworker know who she had chosen so they could call the family.
In February, the S family got the phone call they had waited so long to receive. It was through the love of their birth mom that their family would be able to grow. In the month of February – a month about love – the S family heard the news and celebrated that their baby was coming soon. It couldn’t have been better timing!!
The power of love is a requirement from both the birth mothers and the adoptive families when making an adoption plan. Love is no doubt one of the most powerful emotions we experience. That’s why it’s no surprise that love is strongly and abundantly present in adoption.
As the poet Maya Angelou once said,
“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”
In addition to the story of K and the S family, we would like to share some quotes on adoption and the love embedded in them stated by celebrities who had adoption stories themselves:
“I have a lot of respect for my birth mother. I know she must have had a lot of love for me to want to give what she felt was a better chance.”
Faith Hill, singer
“Anyone who doesn’t have experience with adoption wonders, ‘Does love for a child come through DNA?’ I knew it didn’t. The moment you hold your child, you’re wholly in love. And you’ll do anything to protect them and shelter them.”
Katherine Heigl, actress
“It is definitely the hardest thing we’ve ever been through. But I think it needs to be hard because you have to fight for that baby and birth moms are fighting for that baby. It just strengthens you as parents and as a team. It is hard but it’s so worth it.”
Lauren Akins, author
“We look at adoption as a very sacred exchange. It was not done lightly on either side.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, actress
“Adoption carries the added dimension of connection not only to your own tribe but

beyond, widening the scope of what constitutes love, ties, and family. It is the larger
embrace.
So, as you celebrate Valentine’s Day with flowers and jewelry, remember that love is also about much more than romance and gifts. It’s the kind of love shared between a parent and a child. It’s the unselfish love that birth parents will always feel for their child and how that love has made adoption possible. It’s also the longing of parents to love and nurture a child.
When you think about it, there is no doubt that adoption brings all these things and more. It is a perfect example of what love really is.
A Guardian Angel Adoptions wishes you a Happy Valentine’s Day!
